The City of Garland has rolled out a new initiative called Restore & Respond, with the goal of swiftly addressing common code violations and maintaining the city’s aesthetic standards. Launching on Aug. 4, the program aims to not only improve the visual aspects of the community but also to ensure a fair and effective system for dealing with issues such as overgrown grass, accumulations of trash, and minor fence repairs.
Under this proactive approach, Garland’s Code Compliance Department will proactively reach out to residents when a maintenance violation is spotted. If individuals are unable to meet the compliance requirements in the set timeframe, the City will step in to clean up the debris, mow the grass, and make necessary fence repairs. According to the City of Garland, “ensuring a swift, effective and fair approach for all,” residents should be aware that costs incurred by the City during these interventions may be passed on to the homeowners.
Recognizing that certain circumstances may prevent immediate compliance, the City encourages those in need of extra time to contact the Code Compliance Department as soon as they receive notice. The initiative is committed to finding reasonable solutions, working together with residents to keep Garland not just beautiful, but fair and equitable too…
