McLennan County, Tx (FOX44) – A suspect in a Mesquite, Texas shooting has died after apparently shooting himself near West in McLennan County.
West Police Chief Chris White said it happened late Sunday morning as Officer Gonzalez of the West Police Department was made aware of a possible shooting suspect that had fled Mesquite earlier that morning in a silver Ford Focus. Chief White said Officer Gonzalez watched for then observed the suspect vehicle going south on I-35
While the officer followed the vehicle and waited for backup agencies to arrive, Chief White said the driver and alleged suspect in the Mesquite shooting apparently shot himself while still driving south as they approached Tours Road. The suspect vehicle struck another vehicle, then came to a stop when it struck a road sign in the grassy median.
