Last Thursday, a commotion near MLK Boulevard and Forest Avenue drew the attention of Southeast patrol officers. The incident, which took place at about 1:30 a.m., began as a verbal dispute but quickly intensified when 44-year-old Christopher Morton allegedly produced a firearm and discharged it, narrowly missing the intended target. As reported by the Dallas Police Department, this altercation fortunately did not result in any injuries.
In quick response, officers gave chase after Morton on foot, succeeding in apprehending him after a short pursuit. Morton now faces a slew of charges, including Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, and Evading Arrest or Detention with Previous Conviction.
