Texas Tech alum shines in Netflix series ‘Forever’

Michael Cooper Jr., a Texas Tech University graduate and Dallas native, is making waves in the entertainment industry with his role in the popular Netflix series “Forever.” Cooper, who has never lived outside of Texas, said, “I’m Texas born and bred.”

After attending the University of Texas at Austin and graduating from Texas Tech during COVID, Cooper pursued his passion for performance, which led him to a starring role in one of this year’s top 10 ranked Netflix series. In “Forever,” Cooper plays Justin, a high school basketball player navigating graduation, self-discovery, and complex family and romantic relationships.

Cooper said, “For both Justin’s story, Keisha’s story, Dawn, Shelly, Eric – grace and love is the foundation of everyone’s story.” The series addresses themes relevant to everyday life, including mental health. Cooper shared, “Justin did something to me emotionally, that has propelled me in a way that gave me a new perspective if it’s okay to be emotional and be a Black man in America.”…
