Scattered showers and storms remain in the forecast through Tuesday

Two additional systems are expected to impact North Texas today and tomorrow, bringing areas of heavy rain and isolated flooding. The unseasonably cool July weather with above-average precipitation is continuing.

The first system, which affected Central Texas yesterday, is now moving across North Texas. Very heavy rain fell south of Dallas in Fort Worth overnight, prompting flood warnings. A new flood warning is in effect until 8:30 Monday morning for areas south of Fort Worth and mainly west of Interstate 35W. These areas have received three to four inches of rain overnight. This mesoscale convective vortex, or MCV, will drift across North Texas today, maintaining the rain in the forecast. Heavy rain, dangerous lightning, and gusty winds are expected in areas.

Currently, the heaviest rain is anticipated to fall in the eastern half of North Texas, spreading into East Texas throughout the day. Afternoon highs will be near 90 degrees…
