As mosquitoes carrying the West Nile Virus have been identified, the city is rolling out the bug spray trucks. According to an official bulletin from the City of Dallas, spraying is set to occur between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., starting this Saturday and ending on Sunday. The bulletin details the targeted areas, specifically within the bounds of Edgefield Avenue, Lynnacre Drive, and Frank Street.
Now, while the Environmental Protection Agency backs the safety of the insecticide being used, if you’re living in or passing through the spraying zones, it’s best to stay indoors. Should the mist from the trucks come into contact with skin, the city advises washing the area with soap and water. The spray reportedly has no lingering effects once the sun is up.
To sidestep mosquito bites and potential infection, Dallas folks should minimize outdoor activities as the evening creeps in.
