Man accused of trying to cash check with 86-year-old woman’s ID

RANDOLPH COUNTY, Ark. (KAIT) – A Texas man is being held in the Randolph County Detention Center after sheriff’s investigators said he tried to pass a forged check using an 86-year-old Georgia woman’s identity.

Derek Matthew Aikens, 23, of Coppell, Texas, is being held on a $50,000 cash/surety bond after a judge found probable cause to charge him with second-degree attempted forgery.

According to the affidavit, Aikens attempted to cash a $1,175 U.S. Treasury check made out to a “Josephine Munford” on July 17 at the Biggers Post Office.

The postal worker said Aikens provided a Georgia driver’s license with his photograph, but with Munford’s name and address…
