MESQUITE, TX – In response to rapid industrial growth and increased commercial traffic in the North Texas region, the City of Mesquite has officially launched its fully operational Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) Unit.
Following the Mesquite City Council’s approval of the initiative in 2023, the unit began operations in May 2024. After a full year dedicated to specialized training and equipment procurement, the CVE Unit now consists of two officers and one sergeant. They will patrol local streets and highways in specially outfitted CVE Ford F-150 Interceptors.
The CVE Unit is tasked with enforcing Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) regulations, which include vehicle maintenance standards, driver qualifications, and operating procedures.
