Garland Police Issue Nearly 1,000 Speeding Tickets in Operation Slowdown Initiative

The Garland Police Department has recently concluded Operation Slowdown, an initiative aimed at curtailing the rampant speeding issue on local roads. The operation, which spanned from July 18 through August 3, was a targeted enforcement period where the police pulled over and issued a substantial number of speeding citations.

According to a social media post from the Garland Police Department, during this two-week crackdown, a total of 977 speeding tickets were handed out to hurried motorists, with 128 of these citations being funded by a grant. Routine patrols accounted for 722 of the infractions, whereas 194 traffic stops took place during the grant-funded portion of the operation. Offenders were not limited to speed demons alone, as 127 other types of traffic offenses were also recorded.
