Even in this economy — in which increased tariffs have knocked down confidence among some real estate developers and buyers — Texans are putting in the work to design their dream homes from the ground up, leading the nation in places with the most newly built homes in the U.S in 2025. San Antonio, in particular, beat out the growing Capital City when it came down to the numbers.
The study, led by Consumer Affairs, the Journal of Consumer Research, used Zillow real estate data from 150 of the largest U.S. metros between January and February of this year, along with building permits from the U.S. Census Bureau, to determine which areas are leading the nation in new-home construction, a major factor in market affordability.
“What we have is a supply problem,” Chief Analyst and Principal at MarketNsight said in the report. “The more we can build, the less upward pressure there is on price. … (and) the more folks can afford a home.”…
