GARLAND, Texas — A 22-year-old Frisco woman was arrested for allegedly exploiting an elderly couple after scamming them out of $25,000, police said.
According to a news release from the Garland Police Department, on Aug. 6, officers responded to a Chase Bank in the 3200 block of Broadway Boulevard to a report that an 80-year-old man and his 77-year-old wife were scammed into withdrawing money from their account.
The couple told investigators they received a call from someone claiming to be with their bank and the FBI. Over several hours, the caller convinced them to take out more than $25,000 in cash and hand it over to a woman in a remote parking lot.
