Pleasant Grove couple sentenced in federal drug trafficking case, used multiple stash houses

A Pleasant Grove couple has received lengthy federal prison sentences for leading a large-scale drug trafficking operation, federal prosecutors said.

Holly Candice Lopez, 28, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine and conspiracy to commit money laundering. She was sentenced to life in federal prison. Her husband, Ricardo Ruiz, 30, pleaded guilty to the same charges and received a sentence of more than 31 years, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Court records show Lopez and Ruiz led a trafficking organization that distributed kilogram quantities of heroin, methamphetamine and cocaine. Authorities said the couple used at least five stash houses in Pleasant Grove to store and distribute drugs imported from Mexico…
