DALLAS, Texas — Dallas Police Central Business District officers on bike patrol discovered a homeless mother and her two sons in downtown on August 28, 2025. The family, who had lost their housing, was in need of shelter and food, according to a press release from the department.
Officers quickly contacted the City’s Office of Emergency Management and Crisis Response, which coordinated with Family Gateway to provide shelter and storage for the family’s belongings. When officers learned the family had not eaten since the previous day, one officer personally brought them food from a nearby restaurant before transporting them to Family Gateway for further assistance.
“I commend these officers and our partners at Emergency Management and Crisis Response for the compassion and professionalism shown toward this family,” said Major John Madison, commander of the Central Business District Patrol Division. “While this incident did not involve a criminal matter, it represents the commitment our CBD division has toward serving all members of the downtown and CBD area.”…
