TEXAS β During the legislative session, state lawmakers passed several laws addressing the mounting cases of deed fraud in Texas. Victims shared their testimonies, describing how thieves stole their property using forged documents.
One witness who spoke to lawmakers was Norma Adams-Wade, whose family has owned a vacant lot on Lowery Street in Dallas since the 1950s. She said a tenant who rents one of her adjacent properties notified her when they heard crews cutting down trees on the lot. After a confrontation, she discovered two people had filed a fraudulent deed on the property.
