Tragic Collision: Driver Killed in Crash with Ambulance on FM 740
KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — A tragic accident on Wednesday has left one driver dead following a collision with a CareFlite ambulance on FM 740, just south of Forney.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the incident occurred when a 2015 Hyundai Elantra was traveling northbound on FM 740. The ambulance, which was responding to an emergency with its lights flashing, was headed southbound at the same time.
Witnesses reported that traffic was heavily congested, prompting the Elantra’s driver to veer into the southbound lane, where the vehicle collided with the ambulance.
Ambulance Occupants Evaluated After Collision
Inside the ambulance were five individuals: the driver, three passengers, and a patient. Fortunately, none of the occupants sustained significant injuries; however, they were all transported to Methodist Hospital for precautionary evaluations, as a standard procedure in such incidents.
Driver Pronounced Dead at the Scene
Tragically, the driver of the Hyundai was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
