Residents of the historic Mercantile Building in downtown Dallas have been ordered to move out within 30 days after city inspectors declared the tower uninhabitable.
The decision comes weeks after a water main ruptured on the 20th floor, flooding multiple levels and knocking out power, air conditioning, and elevator service. Building management says all leases have been terminated and residents will receive refunds for rent, deposits, and assistance with moving costs.
