Deputy Thrown Off Overpass After Truck Hits Squad Car with Detainee Inside

A Texas deputy was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle and thrown off an overpass while investigating a crash in Dallas County.

According to a Facebook post from the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office on Monday, Oct. 27, deputies had “responded to a vehicle crash when another vehicle struck them at the scene.” The department confirmed that the deputy remains hospitalized and is continuing to recover.

The incident occurred around 3 a.m. local time on Saturday, Oct. 25, when the deputy’s patrol car was hit by a Ford F-150, according to reports from KTVT, WDAF, and WFAA. The deputy was standing between his parked squad car and the bridge railing while investigating an earlier crash involving a Tesla.
