There is a new concern that those affected by the lapse in SNAP benefits due to the government shutdown could be at greater risk of eviction. Dallas-based Interfaith Family Services saw an increase in the number of people needing help paying rent. CEO Kimberly Williams says they won’t know for sure how deeply this affected families until eviction numbers for December and January are known. On top of that, she says families will spend about $180 more on Thanksgiving and Christmas this year due to higher costs.
