Dallas Police Release Bodycam Footage from Deadly Downtown Dallas Nightclub Shooting

The Dallas Police Department released body camera footage following a violent confrontation outside Hyde & Seek Lounge in Downtown Dallas, which ended in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to three others. As reported by WFAA, the incident unfolded on Monday when 31-year-old Kedric McDonald opened fire, resulting in a swift and fatal police response.

According to Police Chief Daniel Comeaux’s remarks in a press conference on Wednesday, captured by surveillance footage and later confirmed by police bodycam video, a dispute escalated to fatal violence around 2 a.m. outside the nightclub located on the 2000 block of Commerce Street. After shooting into a vehicle and harming three bystanders, McDonald ran toward officers with his weapon drawn, ignored their verbal commands to disarm, and as a result, was shot dead by two officers at the scene. Running towards scattered innocent bystanders and frantic club-goers, the subsequent chaos from the gunfire was also captured on the released bodycam footage.

The tragic outcome of these moments saw both McDonald and 27-year-old Zemeid Cox, who was seated in the targeted vehicle, pronounced deceased on the site. In the effort to subdue the threat, no officers sustained injuries, and the three wounded bystanders were hospitalized with injuries deemed non-life-threatening.
