If you have a young person in your house, or have encountered the internet at all, you are likely aware that if you say something with the numbers six and seven, children will literally go insane with joy. However, you may not celebrate with them, because as an adult, you are cringe. I am sorry to inform you of this, but I came about this knowledge the hard way. I complimented my son on his drip, and he told me that I “ruined the word” and “have a mortgage and can’t say things like that.” However, joke’s on him—when I learned that merely uttering a currently popular catchphrase or word ruins it, I now know that I can make it stop in my house by using it liberally throughout the dinner hour or the carpool to school.
