Dallas put manager hired to promote nighttime economy on leave after he promoted nighttime economy, records show

DALLAS — While Dallas grappled with conflicts between nightlife venues and city officials this fall, the director of the office responsible for managing nighttime economy relations was on months-long administrative leave for promoting his department without city approval, records show.

Edward “Eddie” Grant was placed on paid administrative leave Sept. 24 after a city HR investigation found he spoke to the media on multiple occasions without the prior approval of his boss, records obtained by the WFAA showed.

The written statements and resulting HR report do not cite any concerns with the content of two television interviews Grant conducted, nor two press releases he sent in coordination with the city’s media relations department…
