Memphis lobbyist arrested for theft of $73,000 Mercedes

MEMPHIS, TN. — A Memphis lobbyist is facing a charge of theft of $60,000-$250,000 after police say he bought a pricey Mercedes in Texas and never paid for it.

Tyjuan Spencer, 30, was arrested Tuesday after police spotted the matte black 2018 Mercedes-Benz parked at Gayoso Avenue and South Main Street, and it came back as stolen out of Plano, Texas.

An employee of Kia Motors in Plano, Texas, told police that Spencer came to the dealership in late November and said he wanted to buy the nearly $73,000 Mercedes for his business, Elite Lobbyists LLC.

The car salesman said that Spencer provided proof of funds before initiating a wire transfer for the vehicle and leaving the lot with it. He said a week later, he discovered that the wire transfer had been canceled before the payment was processed…
