West Dallas 7-Eleven Showdown Ends In Deadly Gunfire

One person is dead after an early Sunday shooting in West Dallas, according to police. Officers were called around 2:48 a.m. to the 1800 block of Sylvan Avenue, where Dallas Fire-Rescue rushed a wounded person to a nearby hospital. The victim was later pronounced dead, and investigators say no one is in custody as the case remains active.

How The 7-Eleven Confrontation Turned Deadly

Investigators say the confrontation unfolded in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven on Sylvan Avenue, where the two men briefly spoke before things took a violent turn, according to FOX 4. Police told FOX 4 that one man allegedly reached into a security guard’s vehicle, grabbed a firearm, and then tried to flee in a dark Dodge Charger. The guard opened fire, and the car crashed into a pickup near the gas pumps.

First responders took the injured man to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The security guard was detained at the scene and questioned by homicide detectives.

Police Work The Scene And Review Video

Dallas police confirmed the shooting occurred on the 1800 block of Sylvan Avenue and said the person transported to the hospital later died, per reporting by WFAA. Officers stayed on scene into the morning while crime-scene technicians collected evidence and detectives reviewed surveillance footage and spoke with witnesses.
