Dallas Fire Rescue responded to a major fire at 9911 Whitehurst Drive early Sunday, December 28. Two residents were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Units arriving at 1:50 a.m. conducted search and rescue efforts at the three-story building, despite heavy fire and thick smoke. Numerous residents were trapped by flames and had to be rescued, according to Box 4 Firebuffs.
Firefighters aggressively attacked the blaze at first, then shifted to defensive tactics from outside the building. At 4:35 a.m. the fire was declared extinguished.
