New Year’s Day in Odessa started with gunfire instead of fireworks, leaving one man dead, a woman severely wounded, and a suspect tracked down more than 300 miles away in Arlington, according to law enforcement.
Deputies with the Ector County Sheriff’s Office were called out around 3:27 a.m. to reports of shots fired on the 1100 block of W. 57th Street, where they found two people suffering from gunshot wounds. The male victim, later identified as Quincy Devion Price, was pronounced dead at the scene, while a woman was rushed to Medical Center Hospital in Odessa with multiple gunshot wounds, Midland Reporter-Telegram reports. Officials say next of kin have been notified and that detectives are still working to piece together the sequence of events.
Arrest in Arlington
Investigators quickly zeroed in on Nathaniel Ray Anthony Tinner as a suspect. According to FOX 4, Arlington police located and arrested Tinner after he left the Odessa area. Officers reportedly recovered a firearm and narcotics during the arrest. Tinner was booked into the Arlington City Jail on a murder warrant out of Ector County, and Arlington authorities charged him with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon along with drug offenses tied to the arrest. Multiple agencies coordinated to track him down.
