Designer Christopher Todd Hall unveiled his new wallpaper collection with Wall Snobs at market here in Dallas this week.
Playful designs — olives, lipstick tubes, tacos, flamingoes — and clever tweaks of classic design motifs, like the “Greek T” and a series of martini glasses arranged to resemble a formal garden, allow the designer’s whimsical nature to shine through.
“I had been collecting pictures of things I liked,” said Hall during the Total Home & Gift Market. “[Wall Pops owner Kaylee Black] said to come up with six to eight patterns and we wound up doing 25. I kept sending her things for inspiration and she kept making them.”
Among the patterns is a flamingo design in orange, pink and black with the birds face to face in a heart shape. “I love flamingoes. I don’t know why but I always have,” said Hall. I found an Art Déco pattern with curves on top of each other. I loved it. I thought, If we could incorporate flamingoes … I named it Donna Deco, after a client in Florida who loves flamingoes.”…
