Venezuelan gang member apprehended by ICE in Dallas

DALLAS, Texas — Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in Dallas have apprehended Alberth Jose Simancas-Garcia, a Venezuelan national and known member of the Tren de Aragua gang, who is wanted in Peru for questioning related to a homicide. Simancas-Garcia entered the United States illegally and was taken into custody on January 7, according to ICE.

Simancas-Garcia, who entered the U.S. at an unknown time and location without inspection by immigration officials, was ordered for removal by an immigration judge in Dallas on August 18, 2025. In December 2025, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Dallas received information from HSI Houston regarding Simancas-Garcia’s wanted status in Peru for a homicide investigation. Peruvian authorities have also linked him to additional violent crimes, including armed robbery, assault, and firearms violations.

“This individual illegally entered the United States and is a known member of a violent gang,” said HSI Dallas Special Agent in Charge Travis Pickard. “We will continue our efforts to prioritize public safety of our communities by arresting and removing criminal alien offenders from our streets.”…
