Texas couple pleads guilty to selling $2.4M worth of smuggled pesticides and veterinary drugs online

GARLAND, Texas — A North Texas couple has pleaded guilty to conspiring to smuggle and sell unregistered pesticides and misbranded veterinary drugs, according to a U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) press release.

Thao Duong and Lam Mai, of Garland, operated a website selling those drugs and pesticides, which had been smuggled into the United States from Mexico, the DOJ release stated.

The DOJ release said evidence presented in court showed that in approximately 2011, Duong began using various online platforms to sell animal care products to customers throughout the United States, which were used primarily by people engaged in rooster-fighting ventures…
