Dallas ISD expected to reopen Wednesday after two-day weather shutdown

Dallas ISD is expected to reopen schools Wednesday following a two-day closure prompted by extreme cold and hazardous road conditions across North Texas.

The district shut down all campuses Monday and Tuesday after officials cited concerns about anticipated icy travel and dangerously low temperatures. All athletic events and practices, both indoor and outdoor, were also postponed during the closure.

In a Sunday afternoon update, Dallas ISD confirmed classes will resume Wednesday, while instructional time lost during the weather shutdown will be made up later this spring. The district plans to add makeup days on Monday, April 6 and Monday, May 4.
