Dallas-Fort Worth has the most World Cup matches in North America, but so far, no team has planted a flag here for home base. According to the Dallas-Fort Worth FIFA World Cup website, there are at least four base camp options in the area, including Toyota Stadium, TCU, UNT, and Mansfield Stadium. The Cotton Bowl and DBU have also been tossed around, but they’re not on the website.
Japan is reportedly aiming for Nashville. Argentina, England, and the Netherlands are considering Kansas City. FIFA is expected to make an official announcement about World Cup base camps as early as next month. Teams are free to select their own training sites, and WFAA reports that several teams have been visiting North Texas to evaluate potential sites.
