Wednesday turned deadly in Oak Cliff when a pedestrian was hit and killed by an 18-wheeler on the South R.L. Thornton Freeway, according to Dallas police.
Officers and emergency crews responded shortly before 9:30 p.m. to the northbound lanes of the freeway near East Laureland Road, where they found the crash scene. The pedestrian died there, and authorities have not yet released the person’s identity.
What the police said
Investigators determined that an 18-wheeler struck the pedestrian and that the victim died at the scene, a Dallas Police news release stated, according to The Dallas Morning News. The incident was classified as a “major accident.”
Officials have not said whether criminal charges are being considered for the truck driver.
