Dallas Man Sentenced to 10½ Years After Shooting Victim Nine Times Over Counterfeit Bill

DALLAS — A Dallas County jury has convicted a 25-year-old man of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after prosecutors said he shot a man nine times following a dispute involving a counterfeit $20 bill.

On February 13, 2026, Jadariuce Ladalle Devoils was found guilty by a jury and later sentenced by a judge to 10 years and six months in prison.

According to evidence presented at trial, the victim, Eric Maddox, unknowingly gave Devoils a counterfeit $20 bill to purchase a drink and a cigarette at a food mart. When a clerk informed Devoils the bill was fake, prosecutors said he became enraged and stated he intended to kill the person who gave him the money…
