MCKINNEY, Texas — The Collin County Sheriff’s Office is executing additional search warrants in an ongoing investigation into an organized gold fraud scheme, known as the “gold bar scam.”
The scheme involves victims, often senior citizens, being coerced by individuals impersonating law enforcement or regulatory officials to withdraw funds, purchase gold, and transfer assets to couriers under false pretenses. Investigators allege that the gold was later processed and melted through affiliated businesses, according to a press release from the Collin County Sheriff’s Office.
Today’s search warrants are being executed at Malani Jewelers in Richardson, Texas, and Decatur, Georgia, as well as Orlando Gold Refinery in Altamonte Springs, Florida. These locations are linked to the financial and gold processing aspects of the investigation…
