Dallas police recruit involved in motorcycle crash with intoxicated driver

DALLAS, Texas — A Dallas Police recruit was involved in a motorcycle crash early March 2, 2026, when a driver swerved into his lane, according to the Dallas Police Department.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:25 a.m. in the 300 block of West Kiest Boulevard. The driver, identified as 19-year-old Samantha Bonilla, collided with the recruit’s motorcycle. The recruit was off-duty at the time and was heading home after studying with academy classmates. He was transported to the hospital for a precautionary evaluation, while Bonilla was arrested at the scene and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, a Class A misdemeanor.

“We’re thankful our recruit is going to be okay. He was simply heading home after studying with fellow recruits when he was struck by a driver who chose to get behind the wheel impaired,” said Chief Daniel C. Comeaux. “Thankfully, his injuries appear minor, and he’s being checked out as a precaution. Let this be a reminder, impaired driving is never worth the risk. Make a plan, call a ride, and help us keep everyone safe.”…
