Dallas’ Pie Tap Pizza closes Houston location after only 9 months

A Dallas pizzeria has closed its one and only location in Houston— but not for long. Less than one year after opening its doors, Pie Tap Pizza shut down its River Oaks restaurant at 3748 Westheimer Rd. The restaurant chain made the announcement on social media last week thanking local foodies for their support, teasing they’ll be back soon.

It’s unclear why Pie Tap’s Houston location was closed and what potential plans there may be for opening another in the area. Chron has reached out to the restaurant chain for more details. We will update this story if and when we hear back.

Pie Tap Pizza, which has several locations, made its debut 10 years ago in Dallas’ Design District under Rich Hicks of Reach Hospitality (which is also behind TacoLingo, The Mexican and Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer). The River Oaks restaurant opened in NOVEL luxury apartment complex last summer, as the chain’s newest location and the first outside of the Dallas-Fort Worth area…
