A fiery pileup on eastbound U.S. Highway 80 near Helms Trail, just east of Forney, brought today’s morning commute to a standstill as at least two vehicles went up in flames. Early accounts point to an 18-wheeler, an SUV, and a sedan tangled in the wreck, which choked off traffic through the Windmill Farms area. Authorities shut down all eastbound lanes along with the adjacent service road while firefighters knocked down the flames and investigators began sorting through the crash. Officials have not yet said how many people were hurt or whether anyone was killed.
