DALLAS β The city of Dallas fired its nighttime economy and responsible hospitality manager for “unacceptable conduct” after he broke city rules by speaking to the media without his boss’ permission, records obtained by WFAA show.
Edward “Eddie” Grant spent three months on paid administrative leave before his firing just before Christmas, the records showed. Written statements and the resulting HR report do not cite any concerns with the content of two television interviews Grant conducted, nor two press releases he sent in coordination with the city’s media relations department.
Grant told WFAA he believed he had approval from the city to begin outreach promoting his nascent office — and that he believes his work could’ve headed off some of the nightlife issues Dallas grappled with as he remained benched…
