Dallas trailblazer Anita Martinez dead at the age of 100

DALLAS β€” Anita N. Martinez has long been celebrated as a trailblazer and tireless advocate for the Mexican American community in Dallas.

That legacy is being remembered this weekend as news of her passing at the age of 100 has been announced by her organization, the Anita N. Martinez Ballet Folklorico.

In recent years with the Ballet Folklorico, born on Dallas’ West Side in the mid-1970s, Martinez kept up her mission of supporting and highlighting creative expression based in the Mexican tradition while using its program to expose traditional Mexican dance to audiences of all backgrounds.
