Gun Goes Off In Shopper’s Jacket At Dallas Joe V’s Self-Checkout

A routine grocery trip turned painful yesterday afternoon when a man’s handgun fired from inside his jacket at a self-checkout lane inside the Joe V’s Smart Shop on the 7000 block of Samuell Boulevard in Dallas, police said. Officers were called to the store around 3:20 p.m., and the man was found with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his leg. He was taken to a local hospital in stable condition while Dallas police opened an investigation into how the firearm went off.

According to CBS News, officers determined the wound appeared to be self-inflicted after H‑E‑B reviewed surveillance video. That footage showed the gun discharging while still inside the customer’s jacket, striking his leg without the firearm ever hitting the floor.
