RICHARDSON, Texas — Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has announced a lawsuit against a North Texas Muslim school he claims is “offering unauthorized degrees and misleading Texans.”
The Texas Attorney General’s Office said in a statement that it has filed a lawsuit against Texas American Muslim University, also referred to as “TexAM”, for “unlawfully presenting itself as a university, offering degrees it is not authorized to grant and misleading prospective students about its legitimacy.”
The AG’s Office said the school has never been issued the certificate of authority required to operate as a private postsecondary institution in Texas, but has advertised bachelor and masters degree programs and promoted a student campus in Richardson…
