DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – This Sunday, a local church added a new chapter in the Miami Valley’s history of thriving Eastern European cultural institutions for roughly 150 years, and its own of over half a century.
The Most Rev. Robert M. Pipta, Bishop of the Eparchy of Parma, consecrated the new building for the Saint Barbara the Great Byzantine Catholic Church.
The church invited the community to celebrate this milestone; its itinerary for the day was:
- 8:30 a.m. Matins
- 10 a.m. Divine Liturgy and Consecration
- Afterwards was a Fellowship Lunch.
Church members gathered to pray and sang together outside. Most Rev. Pipta sprinkled holy water around the building’s exterior.
