Murphy Theatre used for Ben Stiller’s movie

WILMINGTON, Ohio (WDTN) — The City of Wilmington in Clinton County has been getting a lot of attention after actor Ben Stiller and his crew were spotted downtown shooting the upcoming movie ‘Nutcrackers.’

The Murphy Theatre was one of the locations where filming took place.

“They shut down main street for a couple days,” describes Steve Burnette, the Executive Director of the Murphy Theatre. “The first two weeks of January, it was a zoo here.”

The bright lights of Hollywood shined a spotlight on the 106-year-old theatre, as Ben Stiller and his production team took over, using the theater as a backdrop.

“He always had to walk up a set of stairs, walk down a hallway, and he would see me, and I would wave at him, and he would wave back,” describes Burnette.

Associate Director Amanda Martin had her office transformed during production.

“Right before everyone showed up, they said, ‘We’re looking for a green room for Ben Stiller. Do you mind if we use your office?’ And I was like sure,” says Martin. “Now I can say Ben Stiller used my office!”
