DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — Following overnight repair of potholes on I-75, ODOT continues to focus on the interstate through Dayton.
This morning, Ohio Department of Transportation crews worked to fill the potholes that forced all southbound lanes of I-75 to be shut down . This was the second overnight repair ODOT performed on this stretch of I-75; ODOT crews were also working on I-75 southbound Wednesday evening .
Fixing potholes is part of a bigger project to address major sections of I-75, specifically between SR-725 and US-35. This is a project more than 70 years in the making.

“We are not just going through and repaving it. We are taking it back down to the foundation, which is the first time that has happened since I-75 was put in, and that was back in the late 1950s,” said Loryn Bryson, ODOT Public Information Officer for District 7.
Single-digit temperatures across the Miami Valley last week caused the latest rash of potholes.
For now, ODOT is only patching affected areas. They’ll focus on full-time fixes in better weather.
