DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — With local law enforcement agencies continuing to see car thefts across Dayton, there are a few things car owners can do to prevent it happening.
This week, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office shared tips to prevent car theft on their Facebook page.

While some tips are simple actions that keep your car safe, there are also a few measures that can be installed to further prevent someone from stealing your car.
When exiting your car, it’s important to make sure all windows are rolled up and doors are locked. Park in a well-lit area and avoid isolated locations.
You should never leave your car unattended while running. This is especially important in the winter, when many will start their cars early to warm them up before going back inside their homes. Keep an eye on your car or stay inside the vehicle if you choose to warm up your car .
The sheriff’s office also recommends many features that can be installed to prevent your car from being stolen.
