Man accused of quadruple homicide moved to treatment center

DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — A man accused of murdering four of his neighbors in Butler Township is no longer at the Montgomery County Jail.

The Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office confirms 41-year-old Steven Marlow is now in treatment at Summit Behavioral Healthcare in Cincinnati.

A court order last fall found Marlow incompetent to stand trial but restorable.

Doctors testified that Marlow believes his neighbors were members of a terrorist sleeper cell. They also say medication and other treatments may help improve his mental state.

On Aug. 5, 2022, Marlow allegedly shot and killed four people in Butler Township . Afterward, Marlow took off, leading to a multi-state manhunt. He was found and arrested in Kansas the following day.

In December of 2022, he pleaded guilty by reason of insanity, leading to competency hearings.

The prosecutor’s office announced murder charges, and since then, Marlow has undergone three competency evaluations over the course of the past year.
