Dayton asking residents to check pipes to help eliminate lead

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Residents of Dayton are being asked to check their pipes as a part of the city’s Service Line Compliance Program.

Following brand new guidelines from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the city is looking to locate and remove all lead water service lines to help assist in the protection of public health.

Since the program is going to occur in a number of phases, the city will begin field testing pipes at different city-owned properties to determine pipes used in those areas during development of the area.

Property owners should self-identify materials found in private services through a city survey . When surveys are completed, Dayton will begin the process of replacing all lead service lines throughout the city.
