Man found shot dead in vehicle in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio ( WDTN ) — Police have left what was an active scene in a Springfield neighborhood this afternoon.

By 5 p.m., the yellow police tape was gone, as was the vehicle carrying the body of a deceased man.

According to Lt. Curtis with the Springfield Police, the investigation is ongoing. No weapon was found in the car, which was towed from the scene.

According to Lt. Curtis, it “does not appear to be a suicide.”

Around 1:30 p.m., police were called to the scene after a 911 caller said they found a man shot dead inside a white Chevrolet Suburban on Mason Street in Springfield.

The Evidence Collection Unit was on the scene earlier working to find out what led up to the shooting, and how long the victim was inside the vehicle.
