Boats, K9s, drones, choppers: Search for missing Ohio teen has grown

DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — Ohio Police continue their search for the missing 14-year-old girl after her backpack was found in a river Wednesday .

7News partner, 2 NEWS, spoke with Troy Police who say they will do everything in their power to find Ellie Carder, and they won’t stop until she’s found.

Police have utilized boats, K9s, drones and even helicopters circling the area to see if there are any signs of Carder.

Woman pleads guilty to kidnapping 2 Ohio toddlers

Police say they received a call Friday, Feb. 2, from Carder’s father saying he had not seen her in a while. She was last seen Wednesday, Jan. 31.

The investigation started right away, and police say they were looking for any bit of information they could find, or that someone had called in about.

During their investigation, they found video evidence showing Carder heading towards the Great Miami River a little before 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police say they received a report around 9 p.m. that same day from employees at Conagra Foods who heard a woman yelling outside.
