‘There’s no answers;’ Family of missing Troy girl pleading for public’s help

The search for 14-year-old Ellie Carder entered its fourth day Friday.

As reported during News Center 7 at 6, Carder’s grandparents said this is “completely out of character” for her.

Carder was last seen over a week ago. Each day that has passed without seeing her, the family said they are hurting.

“It’s been very rough,” Darla Whittaker, Carder’s grandmother said.

Investigators told News Center 7 they were looking into leads about a possible ex-boyfriend and other people in Dayton and Troy.

Darla said she had talked to the police about this.

“They’ve never seen her before. So that was a bust. There was a boyfriend, supposedly in Troy, that was negative that come back with nothing,” she said.

Troy police said they have been focusing on the area of the river in Troy where Carder’s backpack was found.
