HARRISON TWP., Ohio ( WDTN ) — A man has been charged after a shots fired call turned into a standoff involving SWAT earlier this month .
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office shared a follow-up after a standoff that occurred on Feb. 1 in the 5000 block of Embassy Place in Harrison Township. One man was taken into custody from that incident, and has now been charged.
Richmond Police investigating fatal shooting
Around 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 1, deputies responded to the Creekside Townhomes on Embassy Place after hearing gunshots. They encountered John Duke holding a firearm, who deputies recognized from a prior felonious assault arrest.
Duke was awaiting trial at the time and under disability to possess firearms. Deputies are said to have surrounded the home and urged Duke to surrender via loudspeaker.
Mutual air was requested from surrounding agencies when Duke did not comply, including a response from Montgomery County SWAT and Hostage Negotiation Teams.
